A Spring Reflection
Spring is upon us once again. While the winter snowfalls in the Northeast were heavy, they often carried a sense of peace and quiet as they covered our town like a blanket upon one who sleeps. Now the spring reminds us there is work to be done, as God gently wakes the creation from its winter slumber. The trees begin to bud and the flowers ready themselves to bloom. God breathes life into the creation before our eyes! What are we reminded to do as we ready ourselves for the coming season?
As we turn to the writings of the apostle Paul to the Romans, we are confronted with several questions, which lead us to conclude: “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” It is truly a beautiful sight to behold the messengers of peace at work in the world.
How indeed can one believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear unless one goes forth to tell them? How can one go forth to tell them unless one is sent? But are not we, the followers of Christ, sent to preach of the Prince of Peace? It is true, “Faith comes by hearing the word of God.” Therefore, let us walk forth during this season, preaching the gospel of peace with glad tidings to those in our lives. May we walk by standing firm, may we learn to preach through word and silence, and may we share the joy of the Lord with those around us.
