We meet Moses this Lenten season lying down before God on the behalf of the Israelites, pleading with God to save the Israelites and to remember that the Israelites are God’s people. During these forty days and forty nights of Lent we also need to lie down in front of God, not necessarily for God to remember that we are God’s people, but for us to remember that we are God’s people, God’s possession. We need to take this time to remember and re-commit ourselves to the story of God—a God who creates, redeems, and sustains us now and always.
