Why should I attend?

As organization leaders, one might feel Monday morning is a lot different than Sunday morning. The start of the work week brings with it all of the usual pressures to drive results, do more with less, deal with conflicts and lead our teams. At times those business pressures can get the best of us, and choke out our good intentions to lead with spiritual integrity.

There may be a tension between our personal values and beliefs and the perceived demands of the business. We are understandably reluctant to be open about our Christian values and uncertain about the appropriateness of demonstrating these values to our colleagues in the work environment. Too often, we fail to live up to (or worse, compromise) our own values in business situations causing angst and self-doubt. You are not alone.

To address these issues, Dr. Stephen Payne from A New Equilibrium is leading a workshop on “Revealing Our Greater Purpose”. This event is for leaders in the private, public or non-profit sectors who have a yearning to apply their faith and spiritual beliefs in the workplace. Through interaction with other like-minded individuals and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you will come away from this retreat with a greater understanding of what God intends as your greater purpose in your workplace.

More importantly, everyone who attends will come away energized with new strategies to live a more spiritual and powerful work life. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this special retreat beginning Sunday evening, April 11, 2010.

Who should attend?

  • Are you a leader who feels all the modern-day pressures to drive results, do more with less, and to hire, retain and motivate great people?
  • Do you ever experience the tension between your values/beliefs and the perceived demands of your organization?
  • Are you reluctant to be open about your Christian values in the workplace?
  • Do you ever feel uncertainty about God's will for your job and how you can practically demonstrate your personal beliefs and values at work?

This seminar brings leaders from many backgrounds together in a collaborative setting to learn about the challenges, benefits and practical applications of bringing the Holy Spirit into one's leadership role. Business leaders may be seeking new ways to enhance their organization’s integrity, stewardship and moral character. Senior clergy will be looking to better support and encourage professionals within their congregation, and also bring the same principles to their own leadership.

What will I learn or experience at the retreat?

The event will follow a simple pathway:

  • Who I am as God's leader: Am I intentionally grounded in God’s greater purpose for my calling and my career?
  • Where I am going as God's leader: Do I trust God to lead me forward in my leadership role with the right connection with my team?
  • What I am doing as God's leader: How do I tap into the spirit of God inside me to deal with every day challenges?

What will be the tangible outcomes?

This seminar will bring you a fresh perspective and new understanding about how to live out your faith in your professional leadership career. Whether you are leading a church, a business, or a corporate department, you will also be taking a practical look at how you can better enable the Holy Spirit to be present and active through your work.

In all sessions, clergy and business leaders will be working together, drawing upon the examples and practical applications from their own working. You will:

  • become more aware of your value related issues in the workplace
  • realize you are not alone and in fact will be surrounded by peers in similar situations
  • identify your own specific value/workplace issues and challenges and learn methods of evaluating and analyzing these conflicts
  • develop specific, proven strategies and tactics to integrate your values into their work environment
  • create a support network for the integration of spiritual values in the workplace

Attendees are encouraged to invite colleagues from their business, professional and personal network to join us. Clergy are encouraged to invite managers and business leaders from their congregation.

During the seminar, attendees will be grouped into small communities that will share concepts together and provide support and feedback during and after the seminar.
