Master of Divinity (M.Div)
The M.Div. program is the foundational professional degree for ministry. It is designed to prepare students for a variety of ministries such as parish ministry, various types of chaplaincy, mission work at home and abroad, and other forms of church vocation. The M.Div. program is also designed to prepare students for graduate study in theology and related disciplines.
Master of Divinity/Master of Arts Dual
The M.Div./M.A. dual degree program is designed for students that at the time of application know they wish to focus on youth ministry or Christian education components in their ministry formation degree. While youth ministry and Christian education courses are available to all students, this program gives dual degree students the opportunity to enhance their ministerial formation and broaden their opportunities to serve in different types of ministry.
Master of Arts Program
The M.A. degree is designed to prepare students for Christian religious education or youth ministry in parish and institutional settings; to provide training for teaching the Christian religion in church or secular schools; and to afford an opportunity for specialized preparation for youth ministry. It is not a degree earned as preparation for doctoral studies, and only under special circumstances should it be viewed as preparation for teaching in higher education.
Master of Theology Program
Applicants for this program are required to have obtained an M.Div degree. The program of studies for the degree of Master of Theology is designed for students who wish to improve or deepen their preparation for ministry beyond the level reached by their M.Div. degree, or who desire to acquire a preparation for specialized ministries of the church.
