Goals
- To educate, inform, and learn from the Church about immigrant realities in a comprehensive way.
- To provide space for theological reflection on immigration.
- To lift up ministry and community service models which are serving immigrant communities.
- To provide access to legal advise so that are congregations are better informed to serve immigrant communities.
Leaders and Panelists
Dr. Daniel Carroll Rhodes, distinguished professor of Old Testament at Denver Seminary, and author of Christians at the Border: Immigration, the Church, and the Bible will be the early afternoon speaker.
Ms. Jenny Hwang, Director of Advocacy and Policy for the Refugee and Immigration Program at World Relief and co-author of Welcoming the Stranger: Justice, Compassion and Truth in the Immigration Debate will facilitate small group discussions.
Dr. Daisy Machado, Professor of Church History at Union Theological Seminary, NYC, will lead a concluding worship service in Miller Chapel. Her publications include Borders and Margins: Hispanic Disciples in the Southwest, 1888-1942, and she is the co-editor of A Reader in Latina Feminist Theology: Religion and Justice.
Gabriel A. Salguero, Director of the Hispanic Leadership Program at Princeton Seminary, a featured panelist for the "OnFaith" section of The Washington Post, and a Ph.D. candidate in Christian Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, NYC.
Elieser Vlanetin, the pastor of First Hispanic Baptist Church of Trenton, a congregation that has an immigration legal services program. Rev. Valentin has also served in the public sphere as the Executive Director of the New York City Minority Caucus and as an adviser to public officials in state and city governments.
Tatiana B. Durback, Esq., the attorney for La Casita, an immigration legal services program of the First Hispanic Baptist Church of Trenton, and for Episcopal Immigration Services of Christ Church Community Center at Cristo Rey Episcopal Church in Trenton.

Pre-registration is required. $35 includes lunch and snack.
